Microneedling 480
Before After

What is it?

We are excited to introduce a new treatment that we are offering to all of our cosmetic patients! Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure for facial rejuvenation.

All procedures that seek to provide rejuvenation work by causing minor injury to the skin. This injury is what stimulates collagen production and provides fuller and more youthful skin.

This procedure can be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to maximize treatment outcomes and reduce downtime. PRP is taken from your own body. A vial of blood is drawn and processed. This leaves the nutrient rich growth factors and platelets that are naturally circulating throughout your body. By applying PRP during the microneedling process, it further enhances the collagen production, improves skin texture and also reduces swelling and downtime.

What can it treat?

Microneedling is excellent for treating fine lines and wrinkles, scarring from surgery or trauma, acne scarring, and in some cases pigment changes in the skin.

Microneedling with PRP has also shown to be effective for certain types of hair loss.

Why Microneedling?

There are several benefits to microneedling over other skin rejuvenation procedures. Because there is no thermal damage, there is much less downtime and fewer risks.

With lasers and peels, patients typically expect 1 week of downtime with peeling of the skin and significant swelling and redness. With microneedling, you can expect 1-2 days of mild redness (imagine a sunburn) and mild swelling.

Because those other techniques tend to cause more injury, the risks of scarring and pigment changes are also much higher.

What is the process?

After a thorough consultation and discussion of your treatment plan, we will schedule your first treatment. When you arrive, we will begin by applying a numbing cream to the face. Next, your blood is drawn (if you are having PRP as well) and processed.

After 20 minutes, the microneedling will begin. For the entire face, it will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Most patients experience mild discomfort but nothing severe.

After your treatment, you will be given specific instructions depending on your treatment. Most patients can go back to regular activity either that night or the next morning. Very little aftercare is required.
